This
program looks at child care in Connecticut.
The increasing demands on an already overburdened child care system - as a result
of welfare reform - exert pressures on quality and availability in meeting the
needs of children today. Parents, care-providers, educators, children's advocates
and legislators speak out on the issues and offer possible solutions. This video
also includes tips on choosing child care.
Narrated by Paula Zahn, Fox News, this program was supported by a grant from
the William Graustein Memorial Fund. The show aired on Connecticut Public Television.

This program celebrates the success ful campaign to make
gun control a reality in Connecticut. The story traces the women-led campaign
to pass landmark gun control legislation, demonstrating citizen activism and
the power of women, working in coalition, to change the world around them.
Joanne Woodward narrates this exciting story. Produced in cooperation with
the Connecticut Against Gun Violence (CAGV), this program was made with the
support of a grant from Connecti-Care, a health care foundation. It has aired
on cable stations and is used by schools and universities to highlight strategies
of political activism.

"I
am convinced . . . as far as day care is concerned, for all children, we put
thousands into settings that without question compromise their growth and development
- and the cost of this to society is going to be immense."
"Politicians
should be realistic when they make their decisions . . . if they have money
to build larger highways, why don't they have money to provide children a better
future?"
"It
was really the grass roots effort (that brought success) - starting with a collection
of people who thought this issue was important."
